I thought I would never find one, I thought that the players or people that own them would not let them go. Well below is my rarest and probably most valuable shirt. |

1969 Teresa Herrera (D. L. Coruña - National Montevideo 29th June 1969) |

This shirt was obtained
from National player Blanco who played against Depor in the Teresa of 1969.
Shirt was exchanged with him after the match.
What makes this shirt so confusing is that Depor where using wide stripes during those years and this one has narrow. Why? I do not know. It certainly is not the league shirt and I must conclude that it was only used for the tournament. Possibly they tried the mesh fabric as it was summer and this may have kept the players cooler. |

Here you have a selection of historic pictures.
Interestingly Depor did not start life with the Blue & White colours we all know and love. During the first years as D. L. Coruña, they played in white shirts with black shorts. This lasted till app 1912 when the club adopted the Blue & White stripes & the Crest. The shirts started with narrow stripes all the way till 1939/40 when they decided to go with wide stripes. It was not taken well and the following season reverted back to the narrow stripes. This is taken from the official sites historic archives, however my research has uncovered that wide stripes were actually also used around 1924. For how many years I can not be sure but certainly during the early 20's It was not till 1968/69 season that Depor decided to try the wide stripes again. This time it worked and they would stay till 1973/74. 1974/75-1990/91 Saw the stripes reverting back to narrow. 1991/92 brought the first of the new style designs. A vertical chest stripe and more white & as they say 'the rest is history' Well, that's not all. For one season, part season or even one match in the mid 50's Depor abandoned the stripes. They made a shirt with four squares, in the colours Blue & White. Pictures of these shirts are not available and nothing is written, so you can treat this a rumour. However I did have a press picture from a match against Barca that showed this shirt many years ago. But as time went by it has been miss laid. |
